ASSESSMENT

The first step in your therapy journey with Destination: Communication is an Initial Assessment. This will include a case history (to gain background information) and a 60-90 minute appointment with you and your child. Initial assessment is largely informal and play based. It will include discussion with parents/carers, observation of the child and informal assessment in play. Advice and recommendations will be given based on the assessment results for how parents can support their child’s developing speech and language skills at home.  Assessment may need to be continued over more than one session. If this is the case, this will be discussed with you and further assessment sessions will be charged at the same rate as a standard therapy session. Initial Assessments include a summary report, and you can opt to have a detailed report for an additional £50.
